Mauritania is home to one of the worlds largest gold deposits. Tasiast mine produces 15 tonnes of gold a year. The drive to the mine is a 300km road trip on unsealed desert roads. We traveled in convoy with an armed guard so no time for sight seeing. Even in Nouakchott we were always confined to the company guest house. The photos taken were out of the car window. High shutter speed and depth of field. There are settlements scattered along the road. Often with a shepherd and their goats or camels. Trading outposts along the way can be found selling anything you need to survive out in the desert.
